MAGGIE DOUGLAS |
Hi, I'm Maggie. I am a graduate of Loras College in Dubuque, IA. I have received my Bachelor of Arts while majoring in Art and Digital Design as well as minoring in International Studies.
As of August 2014, I have been working as a Graphic Artist for Gannett in Des Moines, IA. This position has opened up many new opportunities for learning more about design. My focus is on print design, mostly for newspaper ads. Everyday I get the chance to push myself and my skills in order to meet the needs of my company's clients. Over the last 4 years, I have designed thousands of advertisements for everything from concerts to farm equipment. Getting the chance to design for so many different occasions and brands has pushed me out of my routine and led me to create advertisements I could never have imagined I would be making. In November 2016, I was given the position of Quality Lead for a team of artists. In this position, I enjoy getting the chance to critique work of other artists to improve the designs we are sending out to clients. I am also counted on for keeping up the overall quality of our team's work. In turn, this position has helped me realize more about my own work and improved my own design. When I'm not designing, you can find me painting, hanging around in my hammock, or enjoying a beer at a local brewery. A good amount of play is very important to cultivating creation. I find it most exciting to find inspiration in an unexpected place rather than when I'm searching for it. |
